Inside Out Consulting provides independent consulting services focusing on the affordable residential housing sector throughout Africa. It has a wide range of clients ranging from small developers to financiers and private equity firms.
We are experienced in working in project teams as well as leading project teams. Inside Out Consulting is passionate about developing and maintaining sustainable and affordable housing solutions, uplifting communities and minimizing the impact on the planet through sustainable greening solutions.
Services provided also include certified EDGE Auditor and EDGE Expert services for clients who wish to bring their projects forward for EDGE green building certification. These services include documentation compilation, checks and site audits by licensed professionals for residential and commercial buildings. EDGE is an innovation of the IFC, a member of the World Bank Group.
About Yvonne Pelser
Yvonne Pelser is the founder and owner of Inside Out Consulting, and has over 19 years of experience in the building and construction industry. She studied at the University of the Pretoria where she obtained her Honors Degree Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. As a third-year student, her career began in 2000 as a junior foreman for Abcon Construction (Pty) Ltd, a medium sized construction company. In a 3-year period she was exposed to a wide range of roles such as quantity surveyor, finishing foreman and junior site agent. Projects ranged from new office blocks to the conversion of old office blocks into residential apartments.
She held the position of Director Sable Homes North (Pty) Ltd, shortly after joining as a Project Manager at Sable Homes (Pty) Ltd.
She was a Director for the Property Portfolio for Diluculo Investments, which she joined in 2008. She setup and managed Diluculo Properties, a national affordable residential rental fund owned 100% by the Absa Group. Together with fellow Directors, she was responsible for the strategic development of Diluculo as well as contributing her vast experience to the day to day operations. Under her leadership the portfolio grew from 70 units (1 development) to 1,987 units (14 developments) with an additional 944 units (7 developments) under construction, in under 3 years. She was also instrumental in setting up an in-house centralized asset management function in Johannesburg with decentralized outsourced property management in Bloemfontein (Mangaung), Durban (EThekwini), Cape Town, Pretoria (Tshwane) and Johannesburg Central, East and West.
At the end of 2010, she founded Inside Out Consulting cc for the purposes of development, project and asset management specialising in residential housing.
Towards the end of 2011, Yvonne was appointed as a board member of Shift (the Social Housing Focus Trust) and served on the financial committee until the end of 2013.
She is an accredited EDGE Expert and EDGE Auditor, and has also been appointed as an EDGE Reviewer with the GBCSA (Green Building Council of South Africa). Furthermore, she is a Global EDGE Auditor with the GBCSA and the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).
